Renee O’Connor as Maureen Wells
One of our brightest stars in “Beyond” is native Texan, Renee’ O’Connor. Renee’ is best known for her role as Gabrielle in “Xena: Warrior Princess” with Lucy Lawless. The series ran for six seasons from 1995 to 2001. She has continued her impressive career with roles on the independent feature film BOOGEYMAN 2, staring opposite Tobin Bell for XENA producers Sam Raimi and Robert Tapert as well as the SyFy Channel movies, MONSTER ARK and ALIEN APOCALYPSE. However, she is not only a talented actress, she also is an accomplished writer and director. In 2007, Ms. O’Connor produced her first feature film DIAMONDS & GUNS. In 2009, she wrote and directed her first film WORDS UNSPOKEN. A festival favorite, WORDS UNSPOKEN has already picked up numerous awards. She brings a powerful depth and richness to the role of Maureen Wells. It has been a privilege to see her bring this character to life!

This Week!
Our last day in Leonard was this past Monday. The final day was spent with shooting interiors of the police station. Our production designer, Chris Henry, took a vacant town square space and turned it into the Leonard Police Station with a jail cell. It was an amazing transformation. Then, it was off to Dallas as we shot the exteriors of the Anchor Motel. In fact, last night was a climactic scene as police cars rush the parking lot and gunshots are heard!

The Crew
One of the most important elements of “Beyond” is its hardworking crew. From the camera team to the lighting and sound, it takes a huge amount of people to bring the “Beyond” story to life! Six days a week for 12 to 14 hours a day, over four weeks, they work in extreme conditions as well as extended night schedules in order to shoot the story. Scott Senechal is co-producer. Scott has worked on projects such as “Rain Man”, “Thelma and Louise”, “Hoffa” and other landmark films. Nicole Garcea our script supervisor has worked on films “The Final”, “Piranha 3-D” and others. That is only a few of the talented and dedicated men and women who have joined us in this film.

The Beauty of Beyond
The filmmakers are utilizing the state-of-the-art RED ONE camera for the entire production shoot. It is a high definition camera that has recently been used on a number of high profile feature films. In fact, Director Steven Soderbergh shot both parts of the movie Che, The Argentine and Guerrilla entirely with the Red One camera. Soderbergh is very enthusiastic about the camera, stating that “this is the camera I’ve been waiting for my whole career: jaw-dropping imagery recorded onboard a camera light enough to hold with one hand. Red is going to change everything.” He again used the Red One for his next films, The Girlfriend Experience and The Informant!. Sections of “Beyond The Farthest Star” even utilize two Red Cameras simultaneously. The picture is beautiful and has a magical effect. Director of Photography Ron Gonzales is doing an exceptional job capturing the scenes in “Beyond”.
